JoAnn Heffernan Heisen
JoAnn Heffernan Heisen, who recently retired from Johnson & Johnson as corporate vice president and chief global diversity officer, has donated $1 million toward the new University Medical Center of Princeton at Plainsboro.
Heisen, a trustee of the hospital, now is a resident of Princeton, but during her time at Johnson & Johnson she served as CIO and was the first woman to be named to the company’s executive committee.
According to PHCS Foundation vice president Joseph Stampe, the donation will, at Heisen’s request, support the infusion suite in the new hospital’s Center for Cancer Care. The suite is to be named in honor of Heisen, whose father died of cancer when she was 9 years old.
Princeton Healthcare’s Design for Healing campaign is hoping to raise $115 million in support of the new hospital at Route 1 and Scudders Mill Road. The hospital is expected to open in late 2011 as a replacement hospital for the current University Medical Center of Princeton. Counting Heisen’s gift, the campaign has raised $91 million.
