In response to the increased need for flexible support of non-profits working with low income people, the Princeton Area Community Foundation will offer general operating grants — often the most difficult kind of support to find — to help non-profits deliver services as efficiently as possible during the current recession.
PACF has also increased its maximum grant size to $25,000. “We want our grantmaking to remain relevant and flexible over time,” says Deborah Aubert Thomas, director of grants and programs. “Non-profits that think strategically about their operations and future plans will benefit from this shift in grantmaking focus.”
PACF will host free grant information sessions throughout March, starting on Thursday, March 5, at 9 a.m. at its offices at 15 Princess Road in Lawrenceville. The session will be held again on Friday, March 20, and Tuesday, March 31.
Organizations qualify for program support if they are non-profits with programs that support low-income people and have the greatest potential to make a sustained difference in their lives, Aubert Thomas says. Similarly, organizations qualified for operating support are those that serve low-income people and demonstrate solid management and keen strategic thinking about their capacity.
Program and operating grants are generally up to $15,000, but may be as much as $25,000.
Organizations qualified for a “Building Community Within and Among Municipalities” grant are non-profits that are engaged in communitywide efforts to address a shared problem or take advantage of a shared opportunity in either single or multiple municipalities.
Building Community grants range from $10,000 to $35,000, but may be as much as $50,000. Non-profits can apply for a grant once per calendar year. Call 609-219-1800 or visit www.pacf.org.
