Running for Body and Sole
by Elizabeth Savino

Elizabeth Savino

As an avid lifelong runner, I am keenly aware of the tremendous benefits I have gained as a woman in my commitment to running. My dedication to running throughout my life has not only benefited me physically in my strong body, it has also enriched my inner self and my “sole.” My identity as a woman certainly contains the word “runner” to describe who I am. If one asked anyone who knows me to describe me, the word “runner” would be on the top of the list. Like most runners, I take great pride in my title as a runner. I know that it is not without discipline, commitment, and a strong will that one can gain the character offered in pushing your mind and body further than perhaps you thought you could to achieve a goal or maybe even a medal. Such running experiences fuels one to believe that they are indeed strong and capable and can reach life goals and achieve inner satisfaction.

As a runner, my passion for the sport has often been contagious and has motivated many others to tests themselves and begin to run as well. Many people have thanked me over the years for inspiring them so run and have even gone on to run events including marathons. To have had such an inspirational effect on others has brought me such joy as I know I have contributed in helping others soar to greater heights. Because of this, I am excited to announce a running club specific to women. In forming a women’s running club I hope to promote the sport and all of the benefits that come with it, including making new friendships with other women to share your running experiences and goals with. The support of other women is a huge motivating factor which leads to greater success. Our group is geared to all levels of runners from the beginner to the advanced. Please join me and Christopher Draper, RD, LDN, CSCS, Nutritionist and Personal Trainer in...
