For Actors

McCarter Theater holds non-equity auditions for the workshop of an interactive, educational touring production of “The Odyssey Experience,” directed by Christopher T. Parks. Auditions will be held Wednesday, October 10, in New York City. Rehearsals and performances will take place October 22 to November 1. Performance will combine acting, teaching, and storytelling. Must have experience working with young people, ability to shift from character to character quickly, and a good sense of humor. Prepare a one-minute classical or contemporary monologue. Pennington Players holds auditions for “My Favorite Year” on Friday, October 12, 7 to 10 p.m. and Saturday, October 13, 1 to 5 p.m. Location will be posted at Kelsey Theater. Prepare a short, upbeat song, preferably from a 1950s or ‘60s musical. Bring sheet music, a photo, and a resume. Must be 16 or older. VK Theater Productions holds auditions for “Blooming Calla Lillies Die Lonely” on Friday and Saturday, October 12 and 13, at 6 p.m., at Plainsboro Public Library. Must be 18 or older. Villagers Theater holds auditions for “Christmas in the Land of Oz” on Sunday and Monday, October 21 and 22, 6 to 7 p.m. for children 7 to 10; and Sunday and Monday, October 21 and 22, 7 to 10 p.m for ages 11 and up. Poetry Program

New Jersey Council on the Arts announced a statewide poetry out loud program and competition. All New Jersey public and private high schools are invited to participate. Teachers are provided with free multimedia curriculum materials including a poetry anthology, audio guide, teachers’ guide, posters, and access to www.poetryoutloud.org. Deadline is October 30.

Mercer County Library System is offering regular podcasts through www.mcl.org. Register for podcast RSS feeds to automatically download new podcasts to a RSS/Podcast reader. Free.

Seeking Nominations

VSA Arts of New Jersey seeks nominations for the third annual Dare to Imagine awards to recognize adults who have made a positive difference in the life of a person or persons with disabilities. Deadline is January 7. Applications are at www.vsanj.org.

Try These Bagels

Panera Bread’s “Pink Bagel Campaign” features bagels in the shape of a breast cancer awareness ribbon and contains cherry chips and bits of Bing cherries and cranberries.
