Deaths

Joseph Nichols, 92, on November 27. A scientist known widely for his work in collagen, Nichols headed Johnson & Johnson’s Ethicon division before founding Princeton Biomedix. He later founded Helitrex and Prodex.

Robert Hitchcock, 80, on November 24. He worked for 40 years at Johnson & Johnson in New Brunswick.

Robert Thacker, 54, on November 21. He was the founder of advertising agency Rob Thacker, which late became Thacker & Frank, and now operates as Frank Communications.

Richard Cohn, 61, on November 19. He was the founder of Cohn Research, a marketing and public opinion firm.

Gaston Raffaelli on November 10. A former naval submarine officer, he worked for RCA’s space program before opening his own engineering firm in Rocky Hill, where he designed the Princeton pool.

Joan Lucas, 79, on September 1. A performer and actress, she taught at Princeton University and Trenton State College, and was a 17-year faculty member at the Princeton Ballet Society before moving to California.
