A Summer’s Kiss
by Elizabeth Akin Stelling

Have you ever

had a kiss

that was

Juicy Red; it

ran down your chin,

you could chew on the embarrassment,

and went back in for more.

Salty tears rolled

down a cheek;

touching

velvety texture

making

a moment

a touch of perfection.

Love is.

vine ripened Jersey tomatoes.

Hailing from Texas, transplanted to New Jersey by way of St. Louis, Stelling is a wife, mother, chef, a writer, an activist, and insomniac. She is managing editor of Z-composition Magazine, and has works published in vox poetica, Referential Magazine, getSpark, NJMonthly, Wild River Review, River Poets Quarterly, and NJMonthly. Her food poetry has been heard on CroptoCuisine Radio.
