The trend toward eating locally grown food has become popular enough for U.S. 1 to take a broad look at area farms and farm markets in its July 13 issue.
But while Steve Goldin, who is working to develop a transit village in Princeton Junction, has said he will designate a space for the ever-popular and growing West Windsor Farmers Market – which has grown so much it hired a fulltime farm manager (West Windsor-Plainsboro News, May 27) Lawrenceville Main Street (LMS) announced on August 20 that it has suspended the Lawrenceville Farmers’ Market indefinitely.
The market, which started in 2007, has seen an erosion of patrons over the past couple years and, according to Main Street, “has not met the financial goals set by either the vendors or LMS.”
Despite that LMS retooled the market and its times of operation, the organization said “patronage declined to an unsustainable level.”
